Living In My Own Little Realm of Giggly Strangeness

I am…. a wee bit weird.

Yes, it is true.

A total geek grrl, too….

And only those who adore Thor

Will find the next little tale

Funny without fail….

And yes, it is also a fact,

That I am a poet,

And completely know it.

 *giggles* that was so bad!

So, anyway, that was off the cuff, as I sat down to write about my weird little geeky grrl self, and the thing that made me giggle and smile this morning. Since those two things are sometimes rare for me to find in daily life, these days, with so much heaviness weighing on my mind lately, I embraced it.

First off… I name my vehicles. I probably got this from my mother, who also did that. I remember her little Volkswagon “Julius” and our Toyota Corolla in the 70s she named “Lisa” for whatever reason. Anyway, the boys love my weirdness, and just jump on my bandwagon lol. We have a snow white van, and snow white truck. The van, the boys and I dubbed “Snowflake”, for obvious reasons, , and the truck that came along 3 years later, “Frost”. I know…we are soooo original! hahaha!

Today, we were in the van backing down the driveway, on the way to school, and we were passing the truck sitting there. I mentioned to them that it was going into a body shop today to have it’s hail damage dings fixed. So, I naturally said….because naturally I also talk to my vehicles like they were people …..  I said “Bye, Frost”. Then it hit me…

Bye Frost. Bifrost.

For those not getting it…. well….watch Thor, I guess.

“The Bifröst Bridge is a magic rainbow bridge in Asgard guarded by the warrior Heimdall, the omniscent god. It’s a link between all the Nine Realms of the Norse cosmos, but can be opened only if Heimdall permits it: the bridge is in fact much too powerful, and it would destroy all realms if left opened. ”

The boys got it. Of course. They so get ME. bahahaha!

Guardian Gnome, Eric the Groovy

I have a little gnome. He follows me around the house….”mysteriously”. His name is Eric. I don’t know why. My youngest named him. It suits him, though…still, why, I don’t know.

Say hi, Eric.

Ok…he can’t talk, and, no…really….I am not losing it. Well, maybe. Eek. 😛  I do spend an awful lot of time by myself. If the thing really does talk back to me, I might admit to the losing my mind thing. Right now, I am just admitting to being “slightly” weird. lol

I bought the little guy after being inspired by the little gnome that follows my middle son’s Sims around when he plays Sims 3. His people will be doing whatever, and this gnome will  once and a while just show up in the room . Sitting there. On the floor. On the table… Staring at everyone. It is weird and spooky, and my son says he doesn’t know where it came from…probably some game option he clicked on sometime. Anyway….he is always remarking on it showing up, and having to show me. So I decided it would be fun to find a little gnome to have around in real life. I found the perfect one(Eric). Perfect because he looks so laid back, and groovy… with his headphones, necklace, and slouchy green T-shirt (green also being my son’s fave color, so bonus!). He doesn’t look sinister….well, maybe a little….hmmm….The boys love him, and are always placing him around the house in places intended to startle me! bahahaha. I like doing that too, I must confess. I know….I maybe should get a life. 😛

Anyway….today….looking at him got me thinking about creepy dolls for some reason. He is not creepy(not yet, anyway…*looks at Eric nervously* lol ), so I don’t know why that would be, but nevertheless….

I don’t like baby dolls, or “life-like” dolls with the moveable eyelids and such.*shudder*. Too much Twilight Zone and the like, maybe. Wait…can’t have too much of that! ‘Tis my fave!

*looks at Eric nervously again*

Consequently, one day in 2009, I wrote a poem about the subject…..

The doll sat staring.

Blank, blue eyes,

Painted, plastic mouth.

Motionless in the darkness,

It watched,

It waited…

A soft sound escaped…

A barely audible whisper,

“Mama”, it said.

Eyes fixed upon her.

The gaze haunting and real.

She screamed, as she fainted.

An illusion of sanity,

Was all that was left,

As the doll moved forward….

Have a great non-spooky doll day! Mwahaha!

Trying For Interesting on a Particularly Spaced Out Day

I am soooo lethargic and sleepy today! I hate that! I had a nap today, and I rarely do that. Frigging feel like an old lady when I do that! And I don’t feel a whole lot better. Still spacey. ugh. Anyway….I thought to sit and write something….anything….to try to perk my brain up. I don’t know that it is working yet. 😛 I always have this urge, everyday, to try and be interesting. I don’t feel very interesting. And I’m probably not, but I’ll try, anyway….

I went back to the stupid dentist again today to get a sharp spot fixed. It shredded my tongue all weekend! Anytime I ate, or even talked. It was torture! So, I went today, and got it ground down. I feel SO MUCH BETTER!! Although we got to talking about how the fillings 40 years ago were made of mercury(which I knew) AND LEAD!! *GASP* About how some people are more susceptible to heavy metal poisoning than others, and how those fillings may be a cause of Alzheimer’s and other nasty brain disorders in later life. oh great. :-/ My head is full of poison. Has been for 40 years now. But I already knew that…. whatever, I guess….

Looking forward to Comic Con coming up very soon! The boys and I are very psyched for it! Definitely getting my inner geek grrl on for that! They are excited to see “real” Hobbits and Dwarfs in the person of the actors who portray them. It is cute. 🙂 I think I shall either wear my Fringe T-shirt, or my Starfleet Academy one… I can’t decide. 😛

Speaking of LOTR….I am going to pick up The Hobbit and The Desolation of Smaug this week, for the Easter Bunny to give to the boys. 😉 “The Amazing Bunny” usually gives them a good movie, and a bit of chocolate, now that they are older, and don’t appreciate the stuffies much anymore! hahaha! I will still “help” organize a nice egg hunt, however. They still love that. Even my 12 year old, but he would probably deny it! lol

Archer chicks rock! ;D

Archer chicks rock! ;D

Having them get older, seemingly so fast, is making my head spin! I took them to see Rio2 yesterday, at the theatre, and only my 7 year old would sit with me. The other two wanted to sit in the row ahead of us, because, as you know….it is embarrassing to be seen with your MAWWM. WAAAAA! 😛  I still have one, at least, who likes to be by my side, and will still give me affection in public! He is 7 already, though, so that will undoubtedly change soon. The other two duck down, and I get to kiss the tops of their heads, now, instead of their cheeks as they mumble their goodbyes to me in the morning, when I drop them at school. Someone might see, after all! lol

Well, I am out of mundane babble for now. At least I managed something out of nothing! woo hoo! I am going to go make my homemade lasagna for dinner. My secret ingredient is feta in the middle instead of cottage cheese. Ok…I also have a few secrets to my sauce too, but I can’t go giving everything away! 😛  It is quite fabulous, btw! You know it is working when your kid drifts over from whatever they are doing and asks you, “What smells so good?”! 😀

iTunes Random Song Pick Of the Day….

oooo….AC/DC! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!! Definitely woke me up a bit!

A Birthday Every Day!

So, there I was, at Wallymart, buying good stuff like yogurt, and green onions, and on my way to the yogurt aisle, I have to pass the ice cream freezers. Ok, I don’t have to, technically speaking, but ya know…they are right there! hahaha!

I like to look in them. I usually talk myself out of buying any…but I look anyway…can’t gain weight by looking at it, after all! 😛

But then there was today. I was feeling weak about having a treat. I had just been to the blasted dentist yet again(so have sugar, skye, good plan! 😛 ), to get the other side of my mouth tortured, and was feeling like I deserved a treat. Still had no real solid intentions beyond maybe a small bite of chocolate, or something. Then I saw it. Lo and behold! What is this vision? Oh, it can’t be! I have been waiting FOREVER to find it in the store! I have been on a anything-that-tastes-like-cake-batter kick for a few months now. And there it was!!

I had birthday cake ice cream at an ice cream shop last summer, but couldn’t find any in the store. I think it might even be better than *gasp* *can’t believe I am saying it* chocolate….plain chocolate anyway…. 😛

So, yeah…. I broke down. I gave into the sinister dark side that is the ice cream section. “Come to the Dark Side, we have Birthday Cake Ice Cream!” OK, then. lol

I did, to my credit, only have a wee bit of it. So, I DO NOT feel any guilt! As a bonus, it delighted the heck out of the boys, too, when they found out I had it! 😀

The Tale of The Mysterious Clone Army

It was surreal. Like something out of a dream….

There they were. Presented to me in a couple of little hands. Clenched tight, like a treasure found at the bottom of the sea.

Found here and there, amazingly at the same time.

And, equally amazingly, all….INTACT!

No heads were missing, no limbs were lost. Scuffed from battle, yes, but otherwise they escaped the lair of the three giants…the land of the headless toys…virtually unscathed…..

They… unlike their brave comrades before them…. were the lucky ones.

Those poor guys….flung from far distances, buried alive, tossed into the black hole that is the toybox, rescued in time from the maw of the gigantic cocker spaniel, a spin or two in the washing machine vortex, just because they hid in a pocket, then facing a possible melting death in the dryer of doom…. such brave little clone soldiers! 😛

It is foggy here this morning. REALLY foggy. Can’t see to the end of the street foggy. Consequently, the atmosphere of the day is that it has this super eerie vibe going on. Driving to school, and the boys remark on this. “Mom, it is spooky out here, and the music goes with it!” And it did…. like we were in some kind of B-movie horror flick from the 70s. Or maybe aliens were going to suddenly appear out of the fog. mwahahaha!

I didn’t recognize the first part of the song, since it turns out it was an extended version I hadn’t heard before, so I had to laugh when it launched into this boppy, cheery groove! It was like oooh, it’s foggy….don’t go into the creepy forest….wait, now I suddenly feel groovy! Maybe it is some kind of alien mind trap! 😛

Quite the juxtaposition to how it started out, and to the way the day looks. We all started giggling and dancing in our seats. Too fun. Gotta love music to bond you to a moment with your kids. 😀

Darkish Poetry Fun

Whilst surfing for quotes and such, on this fine, gray, foggy, frosty and spookyish “Spring” morning….I came upon this fun site…
and thusly wrote this darkly wonderful vampirish poem.
A “cheat poem” maybe, since it is sort of generated with multiple choice, but never the less, it inspires me to sharpen my wordsmith stakes…umm…I mean, skills. heh.
hint: *read with intense, and sinister dramatic voice*….

It is a night of subtlety, a song of ethereal pain,
wolves vent their loneliness. The beautiful one

Curling, icy wisps of death shroud her brooding form,
a timeless dread.

Her silken hair cascades over
translucent ivory shoulders, and her
full scarlet lips part slightly, to taste the
life streaming from the
pale flesh beneath

Now a night of shared vitality,
I awaken.
